Maybe God Removed Donald Trump from the White House

Something you don’t hear from the political right.

I’m not hearing this from many people on the politically conservative side — even though many of those people claim to be Christians.

What I don’t hear is disturbing to me — because I should hear this brought up by those who claim to be Christians. I don’t expect to hear it from those of you who aren’t Christians — but even you might be interested to know what the Bible says about this.

And there is a biblical reason behind it.

God has done this before.

King Nebuchadnezzar was a powerful monarch over the Chaldean (or Babylonian) Empire. He reigned from around 605 B.C. to his death in 562 B.C.

Nebuchadnezzar was one of the most powerful rulers at the peak of his reign.

And it was at the height of his power — and at the height of his pride — that God sent a warning to Nebuchadnezzar through a dream. The Hebrew prophet Daniel interpreted that dream to Nebuchadnezzar and warned him of what was coming if he did not change his ways.

His punishment would last “till you know that the Most High rules the kingdom of men and gives it to whom he will” (Daniel 4:25).

Nebuchadnezzar apparently disregarded the warning because about a year later, Nebuchadnezzar was driven from his throne due to becoming insane. At the end of the time for him to be humbled, Nebuchadnezzar praised God as being the true Ruler of all the earth.

Now I, Nebuchadnezzar, praise and extol and honor the King of heaven, for all his works are right and his ways are just; and those who walk in pride he is able to humble. (Daniel 4:37)

Nebuchadnezzar’s arrogance caused him to learn a lesson the hard way.

Could God have done something similar again?

The statement that “the Most rules the kingdom of men and gives to whom he will” is still true today. Nothing has changed.

While I don’t believe we can know for sure that God was behind the removal of Donald Trump from the Presidency — because, unlike Nebuchadnezzar’s situation, God hasn’t told us what He has done.

But I do know that it is possible that God “had a hand” in Donald Trump being voted out of office and out of the White House. I know it’s possible because the Bible tells us He still rules and can humble those who walk in arrogance — even if it’s the leader of the most powerful nation on earth.

I tend to fall on the “politically conservative” side of many political issues. My faith influences my politics — not the other way around.

At least, that is how I try to live my life.

So I’m saying these things not because I’m on the “Left” but because it’s what the Bible says, and it’s something many Christians in the United States have forgotten.

I hope we wake up to what the Bible teaches — not just on this subject, but on many others as well.
