I’ve broken down Ole Miss football’s win-loss record for each decade.

I’ve shared who the coaches were and how Ole Miss fared in bowl games. I’ve also mentioned Ole Miss’ national championships.

1900–1909: 19–22–2 (.463 Winning Pct)

The Ole Miss football team won 19 games and lost 22 games in their first decade. During their first decade, Ole Miss had five different coaches: M.H. Harvey, T.S. Hammond, Frank Mason, Frank Kyle, and N.P. Stauffer.

1910–1919: 39–37–3 (.513 Winning Pct)

During their second decade, Ole Miss won more games than they lost. Ole Miss football had four different coaches during this period: N.P. Stauffer, Leo DeTray, Fred Robbins, and R.L. Sullivan.

1920–1929: 36–44–4 (.450 Winning Pct)

The Ole Miss football team was not roaring during the twenties. The 1920s would be one of their worst decades, with a .450 winning percentage. Three coaches led the Ole Miss football team: R.L. Sullivan, Roland Cowell, and Homer Hazel.

1930–1939: 54–42–8 (.563 Winning Pct)

Ole Miss began building a solid football program during the 1930s. They made a losing appearance in the Orange Bowl in 1935. During the 1930s, Ole Miss had two coaches: Ed Walker and Harry Mehre.

1940–1949: 46–37–2 (.554 Winning Pct)

Ole Miss continued to build a winning program during the 1940s and World War II. Ole Miss won the Delta Bowl in 1947. Ole Miss had three head coaches during the 1940s: Harry Mehre, Red Drew, and John Vaught.

1950–1959: 80–21–5 (.792 Winning Pct)

The 1950s was the start of the Ole Miss golden era of football. Ole Miss was named the National Champions in 1959. Ole Miss Football had only one coach during the 1950s: legendary coach John Vaught.

1960–1969: 77–25–6 (.755 Winning Pct)

The Rebel’s dominance continued into the 1960s, where they were National Champions two more times in 1960 and 1962. They played in a bowl game every year during the 1960s. Ole Miss football was led throughout the 1960s by John Vaught. Ole Miss did not have a losing season during the 1950s or 1960s.

1970–1979: 56–54–0 (.509 Winning Pct)

The Rebels enjoyed yet another winning record during the 1970s — although just barely. Ole Miss only appeared in two bowls games. Ole Miss had four different head coaches in the 1970s: John Vaught, Billy Kinard, Ken Cooper, and Steve Sloan. John Vaught returned in the 1970s after having only one losing season at Ole Miss in 1949.

1980–1989: 49–60–4 (.450 Winning Pct)

The Rebels struggled during the 1980s. Ole Miss had only three winning seasons (1983, 1986, 1989). They won two of their three bowl appearances. Ole Miss had two head coaches during the 1980s: Steve Sloan and Billy Brewer.

1990–1999: 66–49–0 (.574 Winning Pct)

After two decades of subpar results, Ole Miss football got back to winning during the 1990s. They went to four bowls games and won three of them. Ole Miss had four coaches during the 1990s: Billy Brewer, Joe Lee Dunn, Tommy Tuberville, and David Cutcliffe.

2000–2009: 63–58–0 (.521 Winning Pct)

Ole Miss had its ups and downs during the 2000s but had a winning record overall. They appeared in five bowl games and won four of them. Ole Miss had three coaches during the 2000s: David Cutcliffe, Ed Orgeron, and Houston Nutt.

2010–2019: 60–64–0 (.484 Winning Pct)

Ole Miss had a problematic decade during the 2010s. They appeared in four bowl games and won three of them. They also were put on probation by the NCAA for recruiting violations. Ole Miss had three coaches during the 2010s: Houston Nutt, Hugh Freeze, and Matt Luke.

2020–2021: 15–8–0 (.652 Winning Pct)

During the two seasons of the 2020s, Ole Miss has performed well under Coach Lane Kiffin. There is tremendous excitement surrounding the football program. Ole Miss is making a place for itself on the national stage in college football under Lane Kiffin. Time will tell if they can maintain their winning ways.
